European travel power adapters
After months of traveling through various countries in Europe with the travel adapter I originally set off with, I hit a snag.
Some of the buildings have a recessed round hole where the plug goes and my adapter didn’t fit inside. Doh!
This is the European round socket style that many ‘universal’ adapters cannot cope with.
Many adapters will not fit inside the round receptacle as most of them are square, or are even large bricks.
Avoid the cheap 2-prong adapters. They are flimsy and will fall out of the wall with any weight put on them. The metal connectors that you plug your device into will loosen over time and they will fall out as well. Useless.
Believe me, it is much better to buy the right one on Amazon before you leave than running around from store to store while on vacation. You will end up paying twice as much for one not as good as the one I mention here like I did.
The OREI European Plug Adapter Schuko Type E/F is round and will fit into the round receptacle sockets as well as fit the regular flat wall style.
What sets this adapter ahead is having a universal 3-prong female socket on the front and a secondary European/North American 2-prong socket on top. This is extremely useful if you purchase electronics while traveling as they won’t have North American plugs. The top socket can also be used to plug in the lamp you had to disconnect to plug in your adapter.
